LuciAcor (Acoramidis) is an oral cardiovascular medicine containing acoramidis, a transthyretin (TTR) stabilizer. It is designed to stabilize the transthyretin protein and reduce the formation of abnormal transthyretin amyloid deposits.
Indications: Acoramidis is used to reduce cardiovascular death and cardiovascular-related hospitalization in adults with wild-type or hereditary transthyretin-mediated amyloidosis (ATTR-CM), a condition in which abnormal transthyretin protein deposits affect the heart.
Mechanism of action: Acoramidis stabilizes transthyretin (TTR), helping to prevent the dissociation of the TTR tetramer and subsequent formation of amyloid fibrils.
Dosage form: Tablets for oral administration.
Administration: Taken orally according to the prescribed dosing regimen. The recommended adult dosage is generally 712 mg twice daily, depending on the applicable product labeling.
Possible adverse effects: Adverse reactions may include gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, as well as other effects depending on the individual patient.
Important: Acoramidis is a prescription cardiovascular medicine and should be used under the supervision of a qualified healthcare professional.
