LuciTala 1 (Talazoparib) is an oral targeted anticancer medicine containing talazoparib, a poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitor.
Indications: Talazoparib is used for the treatment of certain adults with HER2-negative locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer with a deleterious or suspected deleterious germline BRCA mutation. It may also be used in combination with enzalutamide for certain adults with metastatic castration-sensitive prostate cancer with homologous recombination repair (HRR) gene alterations, depending on the applicable product labeling.
Mechanism of action: Talazoparib inhibits PARP enzymes and traps PARP on DNA, interfering with DNA repair and leading to cancer-cell death, particularly in tumors with defects in homologous recombination DNA repair.
Dosage form: Capsules for oral administration.
Administration: Taken orally once daily according to the prescribed treatment regimen. The dose may require adjustment based on kidney function, adverse reactions, or concomitant treatment.
Possible adverse effects: Common adverse reactions include anemia, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, fatigue, nausea, headache, and decreased appetite. Serious risks may include myelosuppression and, rarely, myelodysplastic syndrome or acute myeloid leukemia.
Important: Talazoparib is a prescription oncology medicine and should be used under the supervision of a qualified healthcare professional.
