LuciTala 25 (Talazoparib) is an oral targeted anticancer medicine containing talazoparib, a potent poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitor.
Indications: Talazoparib is used for certain adults with HER2-negative locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer associated with a deleterious or suspected deleterious germline BRCA mutation. It is also used in combination with enzalutamide for certain patients with advanced prostate cancer, depending on the applicable product labeling.
Mechanism of action: Talazoparib blocks PARP-mediated DNA repair and traps PARP on DNA, resulting in DNA damage and cancer-cell death, particularly in tumors with defects in homologous recombination DNA repair.
Dosage form: Oral capsules.
Administration: Taken by mouth once daily according to the prescribed treatment regimen. Dose adjustments may be required depending on kidney function, adverse reactions, or other clinical factors.
Possible adverse effects: Common adverse reactions include anemia, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, fatigue, nausea, headache, and decreased appetite. Serious risks may include severe bone-marrow suppression and, rarely, myelodysplastic syndrome or acute myeloid leukemia.
Important: Talazoparib is a prescription oncology medicine and should be used under the supervision of a qualified healthcare professional.
