Фавипиравир (Favipiravir)

Favipiravir is an antiviral drug developed in Japan for the treatment of influenza. It has a broad spectrum of activity against RNA viruses, including influenza viruses, rhinovirus, respiratory syncytial virus, and life-threatening viruses. It does not work against DNA viruses, including adenovirus, herpes simplex virus type 1, and cytomegalovirus. The mechanism of action is based on inhibiting viral RNA-dependent RNA polymerase by terminating the elongation of the nascent RNA chain, but there are other opinions regarding the mechanism of action. As of early 2020, favipiravir is registered in Japan and France; in May 2020, it received temporary registration in Russia.
